Newmachar

The southern entrance to Satan's Den on the Buchan line, just north of Newmachar station, on 14th November 2015. The location was given the satanic name by the Buchan railwaymen as the long, very deep cutting was prone to filling with snow over its lifetime. Notable rescues to trapped trains were carried out right up until the 1960s.
