Looking west to the former Fairlie Junction on the Kilmarnock & Troon Railway, 10 January, 2016. The Troon line follows the hedge line on the right, with Gatehead level crossing just visible as the tree-filled gap between the houses in the village straight ahead on the skyline. Fairlie Junction itself was where the tall mast now stands, the branch ploughed into the first field but is still clearly visible (take my word for it!) on the near side of the further fence (embankment over a culvert). The old viaduct over the River Irvine is just off picture to the left.
