The modern equivalents at Tweedbank of Firemen's Call Boxes see image 26093 at St Enoch ?
The St. Enoch devices were to meet the famous Rule 55 (fireman of detained train to sign signal box register). The rule is not as simple as that - it takes up nine pages in the 1933 LMS Rule Book. It would not have been possible for firemen to wander about the layout at St. Enoch to go to the signal box.
