With the demise of Sealink conventional ferries on the route from Folkestone at the end of 1992 Hoverspeed started up a faster sea crossing. Catamaran ferry Hoverspeed Great Britain docked at Boulogne with bow raised to allow (dis)embarkation. This ship continued on this route only until 1993. It is a former holder of the Hales Trophy (Blue Riband) for a fastest trans-Atlantic crossing. The railway station area is off picture to the left.
