Geissbach

Geissbach Funicular was built in 1879 to transport guests and supplies from a steamer station on Lake Brienz 322' up to the hotel above. It was the first funicular in the world to use a single track with passing places rather than two parallel lines and as such, in 2015, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers designated it a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark.
