Hirst Platform
Looking north to Hirst signalbox on the NCB Ashington system. Hirst Platform was located on the sidings to the left, terminus for passenger (mainly miners) services to Linton and Ellington Collieries. This operation ceased in 1966. Most mining in the area shut down in 1988 along with the railway.
