The Barbados Railway opened in 1873 running from Bridgetown to Bathsheba and Bellplaine on the east coast. It had a gauge of 3ft 6in with four British locomotives. Later converted to 2ft 6in and powered by Baldwin locos it closed in 1937 and little survives. However, in the Screwdock Museum in Bridgetown there is a small display of photos and maps of this little known railway.
