Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge
Middlesbrough's famous transporter bridge on 24th June 2017, when it was unfortunately out of service awaiting repairs. By one of those strange coincidences my first visit to this location was eight years to the day that I had visited its sister bridge at Rochefort in France See image 24425. The sturdy cables dropping vertically from the ends of the bridge are anchored deep underground to hold the cantilevered deck in tension.
