Runswick Bay
A large depression exists along Ellerby Lane, on the edge of Runswick Bay Top village, at the location where the coast line through Staithes to Whitby West Cliff crossed over the lane approx 1Km south east of Hinderwell Station. The trackbed is only slightly above the road level on the Runswick side approach, so could possibly have crossed the road on the level, rather than the road being cut away to pass below the line. The view is looking south west towards the A174 and Ellerby village, with the Runswick boundary stone just to rear of view.
