Swaffham
The Wymondham to Kings Lynn line was not earmarked for closure in the Beeching report, but was a casualty of the 1960s none the less. Once the Dereham - Wells and Swaffham - Thetford branches had been pruned from it in 1964 and “rationalization†applied, it faded away. This photo is of the intermediate Swaffham station (former junction for Thetford) on 23rd October 1976, some 8 years after final closure. The view is eastward. [Ref query 1663]
