With a name which must be pronounced carefully and a challenging climate, the residents of this village had quite enough to cope with before their station was closed to passengers in 1962 and goods in 1964. There was a goods yard to the right of the platform, and a station building where the modern house now stands. A pub was located across the road, and remains in business. [Ref query 30 August 2017]
