National Railway Museum York

26020 on display in the main hall of the NRM, York in March 2010. Built at Gorton Works in 1951, originally as a class EM1 1500v DC electric locomotive, it was one of a class of 58 built primarily to handle coal traffic on the trans – Pennine Woodhead Route. The locomotive later carried an 'E' prefix for a time before eventually being reclassified and renumbered 76020 under the BR TOPS system.
