In the mouth of East Row beck at Sandsend there is a support pier reminder of the long, high, wooden, trestle viaduct that took the coast line south shortly after leaving Sandsend station. The line crossed the main coast road immediately after the station, and then ran along the rear of the properties to upper right of view before running onto the curving viaduct high above the road and the previous building to that by the beckside, and then running between coast road and beach en route to Whitby West Cliff station approx 2 miles away.
