Appersett Viaduct carried the Midland Railway's Garsdale to Hawes branch (closed 1959) over Widdale, a side valley of Wensleydale, just over a mile to the west of Hawes. The westernmost arch is completely obscured by trees so that in this view from a footpath to the south-east the full length of the structure is not obvious.
