Prague

Tram stop on Smetanovo Nábřeží on the east bank of the River Vltava. The famous Charles Bridge is in the background with Prague Castle (remember the Defenestration?) and St Vitus Cathedral above. The tram is a Tatra T3 which was built by the Czech company ČKD. Over 14,000 of this type of tram were built for use in the former Eastern European states including, at one time, 1,000 in Prague alone. The first electric tramline started from the top station of the funicular see image 62356 in 1891.
