The lingering freight railway - a BR Type 2 (aka Class 25) shunts Hawick
freight depot on 4th April 1969, three weeks before final closure. Most of
the traffic was coal, for the depot at the far end of the sidings, but two
empty oil tanks collected from St Boswells can be seen in the train consist.
This site is now occupied by a leisure centre, but traces of the goods
platform on the right can still be seen. Photographed precariously from the
Up Home signal by Ian Holoran.
