The Guthrie Gate is a railway bridge dating from 1838. The Arbroath and Forfar Railway passed over the main entry to Guthrie Castle here and the bridge design was to suit Mr Guthrie. The bridge was to carry the double track mainline to Aberdeen until closure of the Strathmore route.
