Bullgill

At first glance the bridge at Bullgill station appears to be over single rather than double track but it is one of several Maryport & Carlisle structures built to very tight clearances that still hamper operations today. Class 150 and 158 Sprinters are not allowed to operate over this line and stock with droplights on the doors has to have bars (or for charters a steward in each vestibule). Bullgill station had staggered platforms either side of the bridge and the old platform steps can still be seen. 9th March 2018.
