Scene at Peth Lane Level Crossing, Ryton, in October 1990. A Railfreight Class 47 suddenly becomes visible on the crossing. In the background is the village of Throckley where William Brown was Colliery Viewer where he helped develop the system of waggonways which became the backbone of early railways in N.E. England.
