A short distance north of the former Sessay station, towards Thirsk, there is a very narrow and low bridge, with blind approaches on each side, under the East Coast mainline on a local road heading from the A19 towards Dalton to the west of the line. The bridge ECM 5/37 is seen in a view looking east. The arched centre of the bridge is possibly from when the East Coast Main Line was only twin track, with the flat extension at each side being added when it was four tracked.
