For a short length the Stromeferry Bypass has been diverted onto the Kyle line fitted with a surface to allow road vehicles to drive on the line, effectively a tramway for this portion. The cliff face to the left requires stabilisation and netting to make it safe. Network Rail has very generously allowed this arrangement which has allowed the road to stay open albeit with very considerable delays for road traffic and a complicated combined convey system and railway operation. The location is to the west of the avalanche shelter.
