Lampits Junction
ScotRail 380110 accelerates north away from Carstairs on the ex-Caledonian route to Edinburgh on 31 July 2016. The train is 0831 Ayr - Glasgow Central - Edinburgh Waverley. Meantime a freight heading in the opposite direction has been given a green light, with the signal feathers indicating a turn right to join the down WCML at the east end of Carstairs station. The bridge in the background once led to the now demolished eastern annex to the State Hospital see image 6270.
