Chisnall Hall Colliery
The dirt track heading eastwards is the former trackbed of the Chisnall Hall Colliery railway. The colliery was about a further half mile behind the camera. In the middle distance at the end of the green field on the right is a Pendolino heading south on the WCML. The colliery line joined the mainline in the middle distance on the left at Coppull Hall Sidings. The old OS Maps show that there had also been a brick works in this area. Photo taken on Hic-bibi Lane at NGR SD555125 while the background is dominated by Winter Hill.
