The original 4-platform layout at Largs was reduced to 2 platforms following a planned rationalisation in the mid 1980s. Further unplanned changes became necessary 10 years later, after an arriving train ran through the buffer stops before coming to rest on Main Street. The wall on the right runs along the edge of the old platform 1, with the former railway land beyond now occupied by shops and car parking. Photograph taken looking back towards the concourse in May 2007. For a pre-rationalisation view see image 36932.
