Exterior of the original 1855 LTSR station at Leigh-on-Sea, seen here on 11th March 2014, replaced by the present station further west in 1934. The old station is now the HQ of the Leigh Sailing Club and has been for very many years, at least since the 1960s. The Essex town of Leigh is not actually 'on Sea' at all but on that part of the Thames Estuary where it widens out to meet the North Sea at Shoeburyness.
