Palace Gates Wood Green

Track-bed of abandoned Palace Gates branch in north London, closed to passengers on 7th January 1963 and to freight on 5th October 1964, looking towards the demolished bridge over Park Avenue south-east of the site of the demolished Palace Gates (Wood Green) station, now occupied by a housing estate, on a snowy 21st December 2009. Much of this line has now been demolished completely, this short embankment being one of its few remaining memorials. Ironically, if Crossrail 2 ever gets built, a branch of this from Seven Sisters to New Southgate will, more or less, follow the route of this old line but presumably below ground. However, with the continued delays to Crossrail 1, don't hold your breath for Crossrail 2 to happen anytime soon.
