An LNER IC225 passes the disused branch to Preston Links Colliery (closed in 1964) and latterly Cockenzie Power Station (closed in 2013). The up loop is regularly used to stable LNER and Scotrail trains for which there is no room in Edinburgh. Just a thought - could the power station sidings be refurbished and wired for such a purpose or is there a clearance issue at the road bridge?
