Taking the shot from the Stanhope station footbridge in 1989 shows the train driver walking along the platform beside the Class 143 Pacer unit at the end of its journey from Saltburn. A few local people have gathered to see the passenger train which was a rare sight then. At the time the station building was privately owned but the train and railway were in the hands of the British Railways Board.
