Shortly after leaving the Waverley Route on the Selkirk branch there were facing points for the gasworks, and you can just make out the course of the siding to the left after what was surely the base for the ground frame. There is still a small gas depot on the site, complete with an old gasometer. Surprisingly this is RailScot's first picture of this major railway hub.
