Jasper

CNR Mountain Locomotive 6015 at Jasper. This was the last of a batch of sixteen 4-8-2s delivered in 1923 for the new Canadian National Railways (formed by the effective nationalisation of several financially troubled railways) and were designated as Class U-1-a and assigned road numbers 6000 through 6015. These locomotives were used on express passenger trains between Montreal and Toronto, with the last batch, delivered in 1944, being capable of speeds up to 100 miles per hour, but presumably not through the mountain sections!
