Western Ferries' 'Sound of Gigha' and Caledonian MacBrayne's 'Iona' at Port Askaig, Islay, in 1988. The Sound of Gigha, a landing craft style vessel, operated the service from Jura between 1969 and 1998. The Iona, introduced in 1970, moved on in 1997 to become the MV Pentalina-B, later being wrecked in 2014 at Moia-Moia Bay, Santiago, Cape Verde.
