Bishopsgate

The former Eastern Counties Railway viaduct of 1840 that led into the original terminus opened as Shoreditch in 1840 and renamed the following year and which became a goods station from 1876 onwards after Liverpool Street station was fully completed, having partly opened the previous year. The viaduct fell into disuse after a disastrous fire, in which two railway workers sadly lost their lives and which rendered the goods station no longer viable, in December 1964. This view from outside the new London Overground Shoreditch High Street station, opened in April 2010 (out of view on right) is on 13th November 2012. See image 71224
