Singer was one of those in-a-state-of-siege boxes with grills over the windows and some boarding up. It was located east of Singer station where the Singer Deviation left the original course of the G,D&H and controlled access to the large Singer works station. By the late 1980s all that remained was an electrified Down Goods Loop. This was removed shortly before the box closed (it was to the immediate right of the box), replaced in the Yoker re-signalling scheme. The original course of the line was to the right, without any curve.
