Shields Road itself suffered at the hands of 1960s planners and lost the top bit, but the station was always in Scotland Street rather than Shields Road. So, a queue for tickets forms in a very wet Scotland Street while fish on the fishmonger's slab are glad they are indoors. The station isn't usually so popular but there was a big march in town. There are ticketless options but unlike Edinburgh buses (smug simper) tap and cap isn't one of them; if you're not a regular user you've just got to buy a ticket. Very 2010s.
