Bonnington

On the east side of Newhaven Road stands the former entrance to Bonnington station on the North Leith branch, seen here in March 2009. The station lost its passenger service in 1947, although freight traffic on the branch continued well into the 1960s. The two storey building is now a private residence with ithe lower floor adjoining the old westbound platform running below the bridge (see 23913). The sign on the wall indicates the nearest pedestrian access to the old trackbed... now referred to as the Water of Leith Walkway.
