Wakefield Westgate

A 1989 view along the tracks used by the trains delivering Ford Transit vans to Tolman's Ford Vehicle Distribution Depot in the former goods yard by Wakefield Westgate station. The vans were able to be off-loaded on the level, and taken left to the depot compound. Cars came in on double deck car carrying wagons, with a twin track siding running diagonally across the yard. See image 33645 for a view of these wagons stabled after off-loading. The depot closed not long after the view was taken, despite overhead catenary being run along the siding to allow electric haulage from Dagenham, but this was never used.
