This little stockade has been a puzzle to me for some years. It is hard by course of the CR Leith branch at exactly the location of the points for the engineering works. It had a lamp (right) and an opening facing the track. Did it once contain the ground frame, shielding it from mischievous hands? Was it to corral people using a foot crossing?(there is a gap in the wall opposite) Photographed incidental to my daily exercise permitted under emergency coronavirus legislation.
