Capel was the first station out on the branch from Bentley to Hadleigh and saw its last train pass through in 1965. Located alongside the A12, most of the structure fell victim to road widening in 1969, leaving only the eastern end of the platform and a couple of outbuildings. This photo shows the remains on 15th January 1977. The building nearest the camera (still bearing its fire bucket hooks) was demolished a few weeks later, but the other hung on well into the 1980s until a service garage was built on the site.
