Ayr depot has turned out its sparkling B1 61261 on 1st June 1963, for a summer Saturday service to Edinburgh Princes St. The engine is new to Ayr, having been a former stalwart of Glasgow Eastfield. The train is passing Hillington East, and on the left a diesel unit is calling on a Largs service. Note the 'Caley' route indicator proudly displayed above the B1's buffer beam. Those with expertise on the subject will know whether it has been correctly set for the Edinburgh destination!
