Extract from the blue pages of the Scottish Region timetable for winter 1960-61. I would say it was pushing it a bit to call a train that takes over 10 hours to get from Edinburgh to London an express but ‘'Restaurant Car Dawdler' wouldn't have got past marketing. Notice that it doesn't call at Rotherham Masborough on the way north. Perhaps Rotherham, in 1960, was so depressing that nobody would want to return. I am sure it is lovely now.
