Tralee [Aquadome]

Remains of the line and station (in background) by the Aquadrome at Tralee that was opened in 1993 for a short revived section of the former Tralee & Dingle Light Railway as far as Blennerville, in the far south-west of the Irish Republic, and seen here on 15th June 2016. The original line ran between the two towns in its title and was originally closed to passengers in 1939 and to freight in 1953. Sadly, this narrow gauge heritage railway only lasted 20 years and was closed in 2013. A consortium in 2015 looked at the possibility of its reopening but as at the start of 2021, this has yet to come to fruition.
