Kepwick Quarry, North Yorkshire, in 1989. This former limestone quarry was connected in 1833 to kilns at Leake, three and a half miles away. There was a self-acting incline from the mouth of the quarry, in the centre of the photograph, to the valley floor where horses took over. The tramway closed around sixty years later.
