Just to the Halton side of the westerly Crook o' Lune viaduct the old railway cutting was filled in after closure and had to be partially excavated when the Caton to Lancaster trackbed cycle path was opened. This small tunnel replaces an old occupation bridge, part of whose sidewalls can still be seen, and a piece of artwork has been placed over the entrance. Duck as you pass through!
