The sandstone block wall seen here is the pathetic remains of the former Airdrie terminus of the Caledonian. The view is to the east. The tracks and platform were directly above, now the site of a car park. This portion of the platforms was covered by a glazed trainshed. The buffers and circulating areas were off to the left. Closure to passengers was in 1943, complete closure in 1964 when the line was cut back and a buffer stop installed at the former Cairnhill Junction.
