Stirling

In 1986, ScotRail withdrew its Class 107 DMU fleet temporarily to rectify axle problems and had to source replacement sets from wherever it could find them, even if that meant assembling them from the remaining serviceable vehicles from different types of life-expired DMU. A typical example of the policy is shown at Stirling in September 1986, compromising cars from a Swindon set, a MetCam set and a Cravens set. The latter, E51268, had been donated by Norwich depot, swapping the leisure of East Anglian byways for the intensity of central Scottish services for its last days.
