Rail Operations Group 57305 passes through Eastleigh on 6th May 2021. This former BR Class 47 has an interesting history. It was D1758 and then 47164, when it was one of the Stratford 47s to be decorated with a bodyside Union flag for the Silver Jubilee. It was further renumbered as 47571 and then went to Virgin Trains as 47822. It was rebuilt as a Virgin Class 57 (Thunderbirds John Tracy) being equipped with a reconditioned EMD engine (ex 66) and Class 56 alternator. It is now leased by ROG from DRS and sounded delightful.
