Newton [1st]
Taken at the site of the original Newton station this view shows Newton East Junction and the turnback siding. Newton station was relocated to its present location, then Hamilton Branch Junction, in 1873. The goods yard remained at the original site and this photograph was taken from the former loading bank in 1990. At the time the junctions at Newton were being remodelled.
