Black 5 45437 makes a brisk getaway from Carlisle in February 1966, with a short milk train for the south. Milk traffic was of course eventually lost from the railway but, looking back, it nevertheless feels like a rather more racy way of bringing dairy supplies to the big city than the modern-day road tankers that clutter the M6.
