Pendleton [2nd]

Pendleton Broad Street had four platforms, and was a busy station for many years, but passenger numbers reduced dramatically after Salford Crescent opened in 1987. I was on a train that called at the right hand platforms around 1988, then took the Brindle Heath to Agecroft link to rejoin the Bolton line. This short line closed soon after and Broad Street continued to decline. In 1994 an arson attack on the station led to temporary closure, which was made permanent four years later. 158794, heading for Southport, passes through the old platforms on 5th September 2021.
