The Burnstones Viaduct spans both the A689 Alston to Brampton Road and the Thinhope Burn in the village of Knarsdale, and is adjacent to the access road to Knarsdale Hall sited close by. The northernmost arch crossing the road is built in a skew design to accommodate the bend in the road, with a lengthy high wing wall beyond. The four arches in the section crossing the burn are seen in this view looking in a westerly direction. The viaduct design matches that of the Gilderdale Viaduct a few miles north of Alston on the operational section of the line to Slaggyford. See image 78700
